The following historical information is about the service of both the battalion, and the men, of the "South Carolina Partisan Rangers," also known as Kirk's Squadron of South Carolina Volunteers, which served in the American Civil War from February 24th to December 20th, 1864. November 1864: 1st Military District of South Carolina (Ripley's Brigade), Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida

November to December 1864: Jenkins' Cavalry Command, Taliaferro's Division, Department of South Carolina, Georgia & Florida

 
  SQUADRON TIMELINE

 
February 24th, 1864: Captain Kirk's Company of South Carolina Partisan Rangers is reorganized at Pocotaligo, South Carolina, into two companies, designated 'A' & 'B' of the South Carolina Partisan Rangers - Kirk's Squadron of South Carolina Volunteers, under Captain Manning Isaac Kirk (1828-1868).

February to December 1864: Served on duty along the South Carolina Coast.

February to July 1864: Served near Pocotaligo, South Carolina

July 19th, 1864: The squadron moves from Pocotaligo to Battery White near Georgetown, South Carolina.

July to November 1864: Served at Georgetown, South Carolina.

November 25th, 1864: The Squadron moves from Georgetown to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

November 28th & 29th, 1864: The Squadron moves from Mount Pleasant to Grahamville, South Carolina.

December 10th & 11th, 1864: The squadron moves to Pocotaligo, South Carolina.

December 1864: Served near Pocotaligo, South Carolina.

December 20th, 1864: The Squadron is consolidated into the Nineteenth (19th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Battalion.

        Company A is designated as Company A of the 19th Cavalry Battalion.
        Company B is designated as Company C of the 19th Cavalry Battalion.
