The following historical information is about the service of both the regiment, and the men, of the Eleventh (11th) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Battalion - Eutaw Battalion, which served in the American Civil War from February 22nd to July 22nd, 1862. February 21st, 1862: The Beauregard Light Infantry is mustered into service at Charleston, South Carolia, for twelve months' service. February 24th, 1862: Companies A & B of the Washington Light Infantry are mustered into service at Charleston, South Carolia, for twelve months' service. February to July 1862: Served in the defenses of Coastal South Carolina.June 1st, 1862: Company F is engaged in a skirmish with a Federal Gunboat in the Stono River, South Carolina. June 3rd, 1862: Company E is engaged in the skirmish on James Island, South Carolina. June 5th, 1862: Engaged in the skirmish on James Island, South Carolina. June 8th, 1862: Engaged in the skirmish on James Island, South Carolina. June 16th, 1862: Engaged in the battle at Fort Lamar near Secessionville, South Carolina; in the action the battalion lost four (4) killed and fourteen (14) wounded. April 30th, 1862: The battalion is reorganized, due to the addition of several companies, at its camp near Secessionville on James Island, South Carolina, as the Eleventh (11th) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Battalion, and re-enlists to serve for the duration of the war. At this time Major Charles H. Simonton is elected as Lieutenant Colonel, and Captain John G. Pressley as Major. July 10th, 1862: The battalion moves to a new camp at the Wappoo Cut near Charleston, South Carolina. July 13th, 1862: The Clarendon Guards (Company C) of the Twenty-First South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment is transferred to the Battalion. July 22nd, 1862: The battalion is increased, by the addition of the Clarendon Guards, and is reorganized into a full regiment at its camp on the Wappoo Cut near Charleston, South Carolina, and is designated as the Twenty-Fifth (25th) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment.Company A (Washington Light Infantry, Co. A) is designated as Company A of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company B (Washington Light Infantry, Co. B) is designated as Company B of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company C (Wee Nee Volunteers) is designated as Company C of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company D (St. Matthews Rifles) is designated as Company F of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company E (Beauregard Light Infantry) is designated as Company E of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company F (Edisto Rifles) is designated as Company G of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company G (Ripley Guards) is designated as Company K of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company H (Marion Light Infantry) is designated as Company D of the 25th Infantry Regiment Company I (Yeadon Light Infantry) is designated as Company H of the 25th Infantry Regiment
