The following historical information is about the service of both the regiment, and the men, of the One Hundred and Thirty-Fifth (135th) Infantry Regiment, United States Colored Troops, which served in the American Civil War from March 28th to October 23rd, 1865. March 1st to May 1865 - Unattached, 17th Army Corps, Army of the Tennessee

June to October 1865 - Department of Kentucky

 
  REGIMENTAL TIMELINE

 
March 1st to 28th, 1865: The Regiment is organized with Colored Volunteers from Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, who had followed Major General William T. Sherman's Army in its March to the Sea and Carolina Campaign.

March 28th, 1865: The Regiment is mustered into service as the One Hundred and Thirty-Fifth (135th) Infantry Regiment, United States Colored Troops, at Page Station near Goldsboro, North Carolina.

March to April 1865: Served in the Carolina's Campaign (North Carolina).

April 1865: On duty along the Neuse and New River's in North Carolina.

May 27th, 1865: The regiment arrives with the army at Washington, D.C., going into camp near Fort Kearney.

June 1865: The regiment moves to Louisville, Kentucky.

June to July 1865: The regiment is on duty at Louisville, Kentucky.

August 1865: Companies E and I are detached and assigned to duty at the Jeferson General Hospital at Jeffersonville, Indiana.

September 1865: The Regimental Headquarters and Companies C & K are at Louisville, Company A at Bardstown, Company B at Lebanon, Company D at Mumfordsville, Companies F & H at Colesburg, Company G at Shepardsville, Kentucky, and Companies E & I at the Jefferson General Hospital at Jeffersonville, Indiana.

October 23rd, 1865: The regiment is mustered out of United States service at Louisville, Kentucky.
