July to December 1864 - Taliaferro's Brigade, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, & Florida
December 1864 - Harrison's Brigade, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, & Florida
January 1865 - Cavalry Command, McLaw's Division, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, & Florida
January 1865 - Harrison's Brigade, McLaw's Division, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, & Florida
January to February 1865 - Elliot's Brigade, Taliaferro's Division, Hardee's Corps, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, & Florida
March to April 1865 - Logan's Brigade, Butler's Division, Hampton's Cavalry Command
April to May 1865 - Logan's Brigade, Butler's Division, Hampton's Cavalry Command, Army of Tennessee
June 25th, 1862: With the creation of Company K by using new recruits and men from Companies C, D, & F of the 1st Cavalry Battalion, the battalion reaches the strength of ten companies, and is redesignated as the First (1st) Cavalry Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers.
November to December 1862: Served in the Fredericksburg Campaign (Virginia)
December 12th: Engaged at Fredericksburg, Virginia.
December 19th: Engaged in a skirmish at the Occoquan River.
December 27th to 29th, 1862: Served in the Raid on Dumfries and Fairfax Station (Virginia)
April 27th to May 6th, 1863: Served in the Chancellorsville Campaign (Virginia)
June 3rd to August 1st, 1863: Served in the Gettysburg Campaign (Virginia, Maryland, & Pennsylvania)
June 9th: Engaged at Brandy Station, Virginia.
July 2nd: Engaged at Hunterstown, Pennsylvania.
July 3rd: Engaged at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
October 9th to 22nd, 1863: Served in the Bristoe Campaign (Virginia)
November to December 1863: Served in the Mine Run Campaign (Virginia)
February 15th, 1864: The regiment, along with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, is ordered to return to South Carolina, to recruit men and to remount the regiment with new horses.
March 23rd to 26th, 1864: The regiment leaves from Hanover Courthouse, Virginia, by rail for South Carolina; the horses of the regiment are taken overland rather than by rail.
March 29th, 1864: The regiment begins arriving by detachments at Columbia, South Carolina.
April 1864: The regiment is moved to James Island near Charleston, South Carolina.
May 26th, 1864: Engaged at Chapman's Fort on the Ashepoo River near Charleston, South Carolina (Detachments of Companies I & F)
January to May 1865: Served in the Carolina's Campaign (South & North Carolina)
January 3rd to 15th, 1865: Engaged in the defense of Fort Fisher, North Carolina.
March 19th to 21st: Battle of Bentonville, North Carolina.
April 10th: Engaged at Moccasin Swamp, North Carolina.
April 26th, 1865: The regiment is included in the surrender of the Confederate forces under the command of General Joseph E. Johnston at Durham Station, North Carolina.
