The "Palmetto Riflemen & New York Zouaves" is an American Civil War Reenacting & Living History organization founded in November 2002 for the purpose of preserving the memory of the services and experiences of the everyday soldiers and civilians of the American Civil War era, 1860 to 1865. The Company Headquarters are centrally located in Lexington, South Carolina, with members coming together from across South Carolina, Georgia & North Carolina.
While we participate in battle reenactments throughout the country, we also take part in a variety of other events and activities. These range from living histories, parades, grave dedications, presentations, school programs, historic tours, cemetery cleanups and trips to battlefields and museums. We attempt to sponsor or host several local events each year, and work closely with other historical organizations to achieve our purpose of remembering and educating the public about the experiences of the people of the 1860's.
If you are interested in the history of the 1860's, reenacting or living history, please feel free to explore this site, or find us on Facebook. If you would like to more information on our organization or how to get involved with us Contact Us. |

"Who knows but it may be given to us, after this life, to meet again in the old quarters, to play chess and draughts, to get up soon to answer the morning roll call, to fall in at the tap of the drum for drill and dress parade, and again to hastily don our war gear while the monotonous patterns of the long roll summons to battle? Who knows but again the old flags, ragged and torn, snapping in the wind, may face each other and flutter, pursuing and pursued, while the cries of victory fill a summer day? And after the battle, the wounded and slain will arise and all will meet together under the two flags, all sound and well and there will be talking and laughter; and cheers, and all will say, "Did it not seem real? Was it not as in the old days?"
