April 1864 - (2 Companies) District of the Cape Fear, Department of North Carolina
May 1864 to January 1865 - Butler's/Dunovant's Brigade, Butler's Division, Cavalry Corps, Army of Northern Virginia
January to April 1865 - Butler's Brigade, Butler's Division, Hampton's Cavalry Command
April to May 1865 - Butler's/Logan's Brigade, Butler's Division, Hampton's Cavalry Command, Army of Tennessee
January 18th, 1863: The regiment is organized by the consolidation of the Fourteenth (14th) and Seventeenth (17th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Battalions, and two independent companies of South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry, and designated as the Fifth (5th) South Carolina Volunteer Cavalry Regiment.
January 1863 to March 1864: Served in the defense of Coastal South Carolina.
July 16th, 1863: Companies A, C & G are engaged at Grimball's Landing, James Island, South Carolina.
February 2nd, 1864: Company K is engaged at the Newport Barracks near Sheppardsville, North Carolina.
April to June 1864: Served in the Overland Campaign (Virginia).
May 10th, 1864: Engaged at Chester Station, Virginia.
May 12th, 1864: Engaged at Swift Creek, Virginia.
May 16th, 1864: Engaged at Drewry's Bluff, James River, Virginia.
May 17th, 1864: Engaged at Atkinson's Farm, Virginia.
May 18th, 1864: Engaged at the South Side Railroad, Virginia.
May 24th, 1864: Companies A, C, D, E & G are engaged at Wilson's Wharf near Charles City, Virginia.
May 28th, 1864: Engaged at Hawes Shop, Virginia.
May 29th, 1864: Engaged at Atlee's Station, Virginia.
May 30th, 1864: Engaged at Mattadaquin Creek near Cold Harbor, Virginia.
June 1st to 3rd, 1864: Engaged at Cold Harbor, Virginia.
June 1864 to January 1865: Served in the Siege of Richmond & Petersburg, Virginia.
June 11th to 12th, 1864: Engaged at Trevilian Station, Virginia.
June 20th & 21st, 1864: Engaged in the action at White House Landing along the Pamunkey River, Virginia.
June 24th, 1864: Engaged at Nance's Shop, Virginia.
June 28th & 29th, 1864: Engaged in the action at Sappony Church near Stoney Creek, Virginia.
June 29th, 1864: Engaged at Reams Station, Virginia.
August 23rd, 1864: Engaged at Gravelly Run near Reams Station, Virginia.
September 29th, 1864: Engaged at Wyatt's Farm, Virginia.
September 30th, 1864: Engaged at McDowell's Farm, Virginia.
October 1st, 1864: Engaged at Vaughan Road, Virginia.
October 27th, 1864: Engaged at Burgess Mill, Virginia.
December 1st, 1864: Engaged at Stoney Creek, Virginia.
January to April 1865: Served in the Carolina's Campaign.
March 10th, 1865: Engaged at Monroe's Crossroads, North Carolina.
March 19th to 21st, 1865: Engaged at Bentonville, North Carolina.
April 26th, 1865: Surrendered as part of the Army of Tennessee at Durham Station, North Carolina.
