June 1863 to January 1864 - Post of Fernandina, Florida, Department of the South
January to February 1864 - Barton's Brigade, District of Hilton Head, Department of the South
February to March 14th, 1864 - 3rd Brigade, Vodge's Division, District of Florida, Department of the South
REGIMENTAL TIMELINE
April 1st, 1863: The regiment is authorized under Milton S. Littlefield of Illinois, who was appointed as Colonel of the regiment, assisted by Thomas J. Robinson as Regimental Adjutant.
June 6th, 1863: The regiment begins organization in the Department of the South, with headquarters at Fernandina, Florida.
June 13th, 1863: Company A is mustered into United States service at Fernandina, Florida, under Captain Mahlon E. Davis of New Hampshire. This is the only company of the regiment that completes its organization.
June 1863 to January 1864: The Regiment is on duty at Fernandina, Florida, performing fatigue and guard duties.
January to February 1864: The Regiment is on duty at Hilton Head, South Carolina.
February 6th to 8th, 1864: The Regiment moves to Jacksonville, Florida.
February to March 1864: On duty at Jacksonville, Florida.
March 14th, 1864: The regiment is consolidated with the Third (3rd) South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment at Jacksonville, Florida, and reorganized as the Twenty-First (21st) Infantry Regiment, United States Colored Troops.
