 This company was organized with volunteers from Gallatin, Hancock, and Jo Davies Counties, Illinois. The men were mustered into United States service as Company I of the 118th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment on November 7th, 1862, at Camp Butler, Illinois, for the term of three years service.
